OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Paving the Way to a Brighter Future
Lynchburg Students RISE was founded in 2020 and is committed to bringing the community together to protest injustices, amplifying the voices of students, giving back to those in need by volunteering our time, bridging the gap between adults and students, and to creating events that offer safe spaces and promote inclusive environments for students all across Lynchburg City Schools.

There are people at tables making decisions about us, without us, it’s time we pull up some chairs.
OUR BELIEFS
Equity- We believe that there are some things which people should have, that there are basic needs that should be fulfilled, and that policy should be directed with impartiality and fairness.
Inclusion- belief that everyone deserves to be embraced by all people irrespective of race, gender, disability, medical or other need. It is about giving equal access and opportunities and getting rid of discrimination and intolerance (removal of barriers).
Learning and Reflection- We believe that everyone is a lifelong learner, and that everyone has something to teach. We encourage everyone to be open to change and after discussions reflect on what was said and try to build an understanding as to why someone may think or act the way they do.
Service- We believe that the occupation or function of serving is a must to building a better society. It is demonstrated by commitment that extends beyond one’s own self interest. It is personal humility for the sake of a greater cause. We will put others above ourselves. Service means we make intentional decisions and actions to benefit others. Service is being friendly and providing answers.
Advocate- We believe in not only being advocates for those who feel they don't have a voice, but also to help people to know how to advocate for themselves. Learning to advocate for oneself is one of the greatest tools that anyone can learn
